My Favorite Christmas Songs

I just love Christmas songs. I wait for them all year. I love the warm and joyous feelings the music conjures in my soul. I love how they capture winter coziness; nostalgia for a bygone era; hopes and dreams; and I especially love the songs that remind me why it is truly the most wonderful time of the year - those that celebrate the birth of Jesus!

This isn't going to be a fancy blog. It's just a place for me to share my favorite Christmas songs with you during the month of December.

Here goes.

December 1
Song #1

"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"

This is the song I always start off the "Christmas Music Season" with. After weeks of giddy anticipation (my personal rule is, no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving), I put on my Amy Grant "Home for Christmas" CD, skip to track 2 and start singing my heart out! And then, I just can't help it! I start dancing and twirling around like I'm 6. Nothing gets me in the holiday mood faster. (Or makes me realize that my vocal range is not what it used to be! Ha! Never apologize for your Christmas singing voice!)

I used to have this Christmas tradition where I'd get sick. Every. Year. I think it started back in high school. As if I wasn't already busy enough, Christmastime meant extra activities like white elephant parties, pageant practice, and the desire to stay up late into the night baking and making presents for all my friends. As I result, I always ran myself into the ground and got "exhaustion sickness" or worse. Ugh. Somewhere along the line, I finally figured out that I needed to scale back on Christmas commitments so that I could make it through the season in good health! One year, though, I listened to the aforementioned Amy Grant CD on repeat as I lay home on the couch, too sick to move. Miraculously, I never got sick of it! And that is why Amy Grant's version holds the top spot, but just barely, because I get just as giddy every time Andy Williams sings this song as well.

If you have a Spotify account, take a listen using the links below! (Note: Chrome didn't work for me, but IE did! If you know why, please let me know!)
